BT Media Productions is owned by Brandon Thompson… but you can call him “BT” if you’d like! Brandon started the company as a sole proprietorship in 2009 and it’s been growing ever since! Some of our most notable recent projects include a cinematic set of commercials for a haunted house in Perry, a set of videos for Wesleyan College’s admissions department featuring current students, a set of videos for Wesleyan College’s Executive MBA program, and a 30 minute movie for a local prison ministry.
With recent technological advances (like the smaller camera in the photo on the right), we’re able to bring what many would call a “cinematic” look to even the tightest budget project. If you’re not quite sure what that means, head over to the Video Gallery and take a look at the newer videos at the top and compare them to the older projects at the bottom. This is where BT finds its market it Macon. There are several great production companies in Macon– all of whom we have good relationships with and often work with. But these companies either only do large scale, large crew shoots on $50k+ cameras OR churn out quick commercials using the same kind of camera as a local news reporter and rarely bring in any one else’s creative ideas. BT mixes the best aspects of these different types of companies. If it’s a simple shoot, then Brandon can handle it himself and save you money. But we’re also scalable– bringing in folks from a pool of freelance talent that we work well with and renting high end equipment when necessary. You get a whole creative team bringing their ideas to you, while keeping your costs low. It’s the best of both worlds.
Here’s a little more info about Brandon’s background. He is an alum of the Bachelor of Science program in Communications & Information Technology (now called NMAC), Class of 2009, at Macon State College in Macon, GA, where he earned the honors of Magna Cum Laude and President’s List Scholar. During his academic career, he was honored with the E. Lanier Finch award from the GA Assoc. of Broadcasters. He also beat out SCAD for the top video award in 2008 at the SRPI at Savannah State. He ran the television station at Macon State, taught in a journalism class as a student, managed a live Internet sports broadcast, and interned at 13 WMAZ and Bright Blue Sky Productions.
Brandon’s most recent project has had him working with Macon State College’s New Media bachelor’s program, as the department’s Entrepreneur in Residence. He heads up a sports broadcasting internship, which is a co-op with local business Grid Iron Game of the Week. With Brandon acting as on-site producer, student interns learn all aspects of how to put on a live sports webcast. See this blog post for more information (link coming soon). With this position, Brandon is also providing semester-long training on cameras and editing software for faculty and students, as well as teaching lessons to the production classes.
